Within the maritime field, the Norwegian Mapping Authority will:
- Further develop its activities founded on maritime safety
- Establish a geodata basis for Norwegian coastal and maritime zones
- Develop the maritime services through cooperation with strategic alliance partners
- Public authority functions
Actions:
• Collect, manage and make available updated, authorised nautical information.
• Complete new surveying of the Norwegian coast during the planning period.
• On behalf of Norway, ensure «SOLAS V» is fulfilled as regards official nautical charts, sea level and associated information services.
• Actively participate in international cooperation within the maritime field.
• Represent Norway in the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and other relevant organisations.
• Have special focus on the IHO's program for development of capacity.
Development aid tasks
The NHS shall take part in development aid projects related to maritime infrastructure and development of institutions. A well developed maritime infrastructure is a central precondition for sustainable development and increased safety at sea on a global level.
Actions
Be an active driver, advisor and coordinator for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs represented by Norad for design of Norwegian
aid within the maritime sector.
