Paramount objectives
Make maritime geographical information available in a cost-efficient manner that:
- Promotes navigational safety
- Covers the needs of both users and managers of Norwegian coastal and maritime regions
Navigational safety is our primary priority. The need for integrated maritime services and products will be met through dedicated geodata collaboration with other public and private players. We will contribute to the establishment of the necessary capacity within the hydrographic field and participate in Norway's maritime development aid and relevant international projects.
We are responsible for publishing charts and nautical publications for the coastal and maritime zones around Norway and Svalbard. The international convention «SOLAS CHAPTER V» stipulates specific requirements for the signature states responsibility for establishing and making available hydrographic services and products, preferably coordinated on a global basis.
