The General Chart Series comprises charts covering the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea, Svalbard, the Barents Sea, the Greenland Sea, Iceland, Eastern Greenland and the North Atlantic.
All charts in this series are on the Mercator projection. The scales vary from 1 : 600,000 to 1 : 10,000,000.

Some of the charts form part of an International Chart Series under the International Hydrographic Organization's director.
They are marked with INT in addition to the international chart number.
On these charts, the latitude to which the common series scale is referred, differs from the central latitude of the chart.
If so, the scale at the middle latitude of the chart will be given.
