International Conference in Moldova and closing workshop for Moldova Orthophoto Project

The international conference “Geographic Information for Economic Development” jointly
organized by Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre of the Republic of Moldova and Statens
Kartverk, will take place in Vadul lui Voda, Moldova on 15 – 16 October 2009.

This year the International Conference in Moldova is combined with a closing Workshop for
Moldova Orthophoto Project supported since 2006 by the Government of Norway with over 1
million euros.
Day 1 title is “Production, distribution, and use of Orthophoto: Example from a Norwegian
Funded Project”, and it will be dedicated to the outcomes of the project and formal launching of a
newly established web-portal for Moldova Orthophotos. It will look at issues relevant to the
increasing need for up-to-date geographic information and new technologies and tools to an
adequate response to this need.

Day 2 title is “Geographical Information for economical development”, and it will take a look at
the geographic information significant role for a society, including basic physical infrastructure –
transport, energy, telecommunication, water supply and sewerage, and etc.; sound development
control – land use planning system; spatial patterns for general statistic and economic data, land
registration, mortgaging, tax collection, emergency response, etc.
