In accordance with the Project plan a 5 day workshop on quality control execution took place on 20 -24 August 2007. Over first
two days the workshop was hosted by BlomInfoGeonet office in Targoviste, Romania. Again colleagues gathered together to have
an open discussion on the Project status and further progress.
The workshop was attended by Maria Ovdii of the Moldavian Agency for Land Relations and Cadastre, Valeriu Filenco and Svetlana
Zaharchina of Moldavian Geodetic Institute INGEOCAD, Lars Mardal, Geir Brånå and Elena Busch of Statens kartverk, Kristian
Skak-Nielsen, Nikolaj Møller Nielsen, Ionut Savoiu, Ramaiah Manimuthu of Blom Info Geonet.
A director of BlomInfo Geonet Ionut Savoiu had a short presentation of the company background and status. This part of the
programme was also attended by two representatives of the Norwegian Embassy in Romania, Terje Aalia, First Secretary and Monica-Stefana
Popa, Commercial and PR Officer. We have been shown around the facilities and production lines. In the photogrammetry production
department a discussion occurred on the usage of a digital camera orientation parameters.
The Agenda was as very interesting as tense. After a short introduction of BlomInfo Geonet office, the discussion continued
at the round table. It has been a truly fruitful event which facilitated in resolving of many technical questions, finding
solutions for better compatibility of deliverables in terms of, for example, file formats, etc.
Next three days the workshop took place in INGEOCAD office in Chisinau. A draft of the Quality Control Plan was discussed
and, using a pilot area as an example, all together we went through every consecutive step of the control process with regard
to scope, methods, forms to be filled in, and content of reports. After have discussed a scope of work for quality control
and pre-marking that has already been carried out, INGEOCAD and Statens kartverk have concluded a contract on quality control
execution.
On 22 August first delivery of aerial photography images for Orthophoto 20 for all planned urban areas, and complete Orthophoto
for 2 towns –Ocnita and Soroca, have been received by the Agency in Moldova.
The aerial photography of the whole country has been postponed several times due to among other reasons, unfavourable weather
conditions and clouds on the height of 5000 m. But we hope that Phase II of the Project will be complete as planned. There
is a pending application at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support, with NOK 2, 7 million, Phase III, which
is mainly for capacity building and knowledge transfer to ensure a proper use of obtained Orthophoto Data.
